of us have long-standing interests in earlier types of stoneware. The
subject area is far too broad to be limited to just one or two articles,
and so this page will eventually lead to at least several different
pieces of writing providing information on the subject of English stoneware
bottles, circa 1650 - 1900. This page starts off with a brief item about
the 1817 - 1834 excise duty on British stoneware bottles, and it's importance
for dating early 19th century items. Other articles will be added from
time to time.
